casper and the hawk

Churyl just sent me these pictures. While we were celebrating with Pierce at the playground yesterday, we met a cockatoo named Casper. He was beautiful and so friendly, even with all three kids very excitedly wanting to meet him. We really bonded, Casper and I. At one point while I was holding him, he started raising his feathers and getting upset and we all noticed that there was a hawk circling around. Then the hawk dove to the ground, crash-landed into some underbrush and struggled to extricate himself. When he got out, he flew to the top of this statue and sitting right on her nose, commenced to eating the mouse he had caught. Wow. Gotta love city living. Never a dull moment.
